DANNY WAY BREAKS BOMB DROP WORLD RECORD LAS VEGAS, April 7th – On Thursday April 6th, Danny Way broke the Bomb Drop world record by freefalling 28 feet from the neck of the famous Fender Stratocaster guitar on top of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Thousands of people gathered around the Hard Rock to watch Danny attempt this world record drop. After 5 attempts, Danny successfully stuck two drops breaking the previous freefall record of 12 feet. Skateboarding vert pro’s Bob Burnquist, Pierre-Luc "PLG" Gagnon, Rune Glifberg, Tony Magnusson, Mathias Ringstrom, and Jake Brown also made appearances at the Hard Rock to ride the MegaRamp and support Danny. Skateboard legends Lance Mountain and Dave Duncan were also on hand to witness the drop. The event, originally scheduled for April 5th, was delayed due to high winds and bad weather.
"Despite the variables in the ramp design, we managed to make this happen," said Danny Way. "This demonstrates the continued progression of skateboarding."
The Bomb Drop event was created by Danny Way and Ignition to launch their action sports mobile phone content company. The event was hosted by Ignition, m-Qube and the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, as part of the mobile communications industry's annual CTIA trade show.
