New product info 2010 surf racks

November 1st, 2009 by szakeri

It's bizarre what one can see on a daily basis traveling from one Nine Star to another on the 405.Today, our own captain Janelle took a snap shot of the new 2010 surf racks coming soon to a surf shop near you. This new model is sure to make cars behind it a bit nervous as it may send a surfboard flying into their windshield! Our surf buyer ensured us that Nine Star will not carry this product just yet until it passes the safety tests. Until then I suggest you don't follow this car too closely!

Wetsuit Maddness and trade in drive is back!

September 23rd, 2009 by szakeri

It's starting to cool down again, and that means it's time to think about getting into a new suit. You know that crusty old neoprene rag you have hanging in your garage is not going to cut it this season, plus with all the new technology out there, like the upgraded O'Neill Psycho Freak of Xcel Drylock, you're going to want to get into a fresh suit regardless.

Well, this season we are all about putting your old rubber to good use. Just bring in your old wetsuit and we'll give you $50 towards any new full suit over $300 ($25 towards and suit under $300).  Don't have an old wetsuit?  Bring in your old rashguard and we'll give you $25 toward any full suit.  We'll take your old suit or rashie, and if it's in decent condition, donate it to Boarding house Mentors, an outreach organization in LA that introduces at-risk youth to surfing but if the wetsuit or the rashie is not in good condition, we'll send it out to be shredded down and recycled into new products! Pretty awesome, huh? So get in here and trade that old thing in. Limit one discount per new item.

Taylor Steele’s “Stranger Than Fiction”

July 13th, 2008 by jmcgrady

Check out the trailer for Taylor Steele's new flick, Stranger Than Fiction! here's a little info from the filmer:

Is pro surfing a complete lie? Is modern wave-riding being faked for glory and profit? Is Dane Reynolds actually a robot? With trademark humor and a trend-setting soundtrack, Taylor Steele's latest genre-defining action flick pulls back the curtain on pro surfing's deepest, darkest secrets. "Stranger Than Fiction" is more than just the newest high-performance line-in-the sand, it's an entirely new era of surfing. Brace yourself for the truth.

Slater retires? Poor loser? maybe

July 2nd, 2007 by jmcgrady

Looks like Kelly Slater is leaving the world tour and retiring from professional surfing forever cause he was knocked out of the Rip Curl Pro Search event in Chili over the weekend. The Australian Associated Press is reporting that Slater was “extremely disappointed” and booked himself onto the next flight back to the US right after his heat. [full story click here]

If this story turns out to be true, it wouldn’t really surprise me. Anyone that talented, who’s been on top for so long, always ends up being pretty weird. I think it may be because they live in a kind of alternate reality than the rest of us. I mean, Kelly Slater is basically the Tom Cruise of surfing, and I think Slates’ could very possibly be hitting his “oprah-couch-jumping” breakdown right about now…
